Interviewer, J.: Hi, would you like to introduce yourself, mate?
Cana: Sure, my name is Cana. I am 15 years’ old. I'm from Italy. My parents have origins in Albania. I live in Trieste, Italy. I attended High School here.
Nice to meet you.
Cana: Same here.
So, first of all, how is the situation in Italy currently in terms of COVID?
Cana: There have not been many new cases for COVID 19. A lot of cities are currently in white zone.
Oh, that sounds less serious than some months ago.
Cana: I guess.
How was Italy able to calm the Covid situation?
Cana: We weren't allowed to go outside without masks.
Weren't there other restrictions, like lockdowns?
Cana: Lockdowns only for those who had traveled out of their city and also for those who had contact with persons who had COVID, or people who had it themselves.
How much did the restrictions affect you in daily life?
Cana: I had to wear a mask outside. It was a pain. I went outside to breathe fresh air. I was breathing air through my mask, and it didn't allow me to take fresh air.
Yeah masks were really annoying. Were there new rules and restrictions at school too?
Cana: Oh, yes. If a girlfriend and boyfriend wanted to kiss, they would kiss with masks on. No giving your own things to someone else, and masks on all the time.
What about COVID tests?
Cana: Oh, no. We didn't do that. One time the whole class did it. But not anymore.
How depressive was the mood in Italy when the pandemic started and while the pandemic was going on? During lockdown, for example?
Cana: When the pandemic started in Italy, I was on vacation in Albania. So when we heard the news about the COVID-outbreak in Italy, we didn’t think anything of it. But then it started in Albania itself. We started to freak out. The neighbors were praying to god. The kids' neighbors were taking showers outside, trying to take a shower in different places. But then after one year, I got to Italy. I had to go into lockdown and had to put my mask on. All the time.
As an answer to all these problems there only seems to be one answer: vaccines. What is your opinion about vaccines?
Cana: Scary, not gonna take that. I'm not turning into a zombie after six years.
Okay, but what if you get Covid and your family too?
Cana: Nah, my mother took the vaccine. Also, my father and my grandmother.
Only me and my brother aren't vaccinated yet.
But what about your health/life?
Cana: With my unvaccinated life, I will be the one to survive among the zombies. So, no thanks. No vaccination for me, please.
