I remember when I was a little boy, quite naïve, I had a friend. At that time, I really liked him, so it was important for me to be near him. I was like his pet bird. Day after day, I followed him, blindly. Or maybe it was him who blinded me.Everything he did, I did; everywhere he went, I went; everything he liked, I liked. I Until I was fooled by him. It was one of the worst social experiences I’ve ever had. He said, "You're my puppy," and then spat on me.

That day our ways separated, and I promised myself to never let something like that happen, but I fell into the trap again.Just like in other friend groups, we had a sort of "leader." The leader was a smart boy, big and strong. He gained his status by lifting an actual table above us. He showed off his strength to all the "underlings." I was in this circle of friends, or perhaps I just begged to be, and he certainly was in control. The worst part of the story is when I had a conflict with the leader and felt like he was starting to hate me. I had nobody who I could call a real friend.

So, I did like any other would do, I begged him to take me back into the group. I tried everything to win his favor. But it was in vain. It was like being dragged behind.

I’m trying to get over this tendency to follow and fall into social hierarchies. But sometimes it’s not possible to not follow.
